Day 2: Camp Blanton

Everyone managed to arise by 9:00 AM. We had a quick breakfast comprised of oatmeal, bagels, fruit, and NUTELLA. We made our way to the dining hall at Camp Blanton to met John and his sister, Arelene. Everyone got different tasks like mopping the gorgeous, stone floors, cleaning dining tables, and washing the beautiful hardwood walls and ceilings. After our work in preparing the camp for opening season, we had a bit of free time so we decided to brave the rainy and cool weather and go hiking… That was the highlight of our day. NO ONE expected the impending doom! After spending 2 hours hiking and slipping and hiking again we finally reached Knobby Rock #6 (one of our destinations). Everyone was going at their own pace, but once we pulled together and made it to the top we knew that all of our hard work was worthwhile. The view was breathtaking!

Taking in the view gave us a different perspective about nature and what it has to offer. We never have the chance to see this at home, so taking this opportunity was a life-changing experience with WONDERFUL, cheerful people. On the way down, not only did we see a sand cave, some of us unintentionally SLID down the cave, but lived to tell the tale.

After the remaining 2 hour 45 minutes of our trip when we saw the camp we COULD NOT contain our excitement. It was like everyone got a second wind. Words could not describe the overwhelming emotions we felt upon our return: cold, hungry, tired, and grateful. It made us realize that the journey to the top may be hard, but it is ALWAYS worth it, despite the setbacks =)
