Hello, and welcome to our blog!
My name is Rob, and I'm one of the Experience Leaders (EL) on this Alternative Spring Break experience to Harlan, KY. During this experience, we'll be partnering with several community organizations to serve and empower the members living in the community. Additionally, we hope to enhance our understanding of social issues that affect Harlan in order to return to campus as more informed, active citizens. We hope this blog will serve as a tool to allow you to follow, connect, and grow alongside us through our experiences.
A little about me: I am a senior biology major with hopes of going to medical school. I enjoy learning about new things, participating in service learning, snowboarding in the winter, and watching movies. In addition to AB, I also volunteer as a peer counselor at the UMD Help Center, and am a certified EMT. This is my second go-around as an EL: I previously led the ASB experience to Atlanta, GA, which focused on socioeconomic equity. I had an incredibly rewarding experience in Atlanta, and I can't wait to do it again in Harlan.
